The GT500 model was added to Shelby American’s offerings for the 1967 model year, and fiberglass construction was used for the extended nose cap, elongated hood, ducktail rear spoiler, taillight panel, trunk lid, and fender extensions as well as the air scoops on the sail and quarter panels. The car was reportedly refurbished in the mid-1980s. Work included sheet metal repair and a repaint in the factory Lime Gold. Features include white center and rocker stripes, center-mounted high beams, hood pins, a fender-mounted antenna, and dual exhaust outlets exiting through the rear valance. Mag Star–style 15″ alloy wheels are mounted with 215/65 BFGoodrich tires. The power-assisted braking system features discs up front and drums out back, and power steering was fitted from the factory. The cabin is trimmed in black vinyl with matching carpets and brushed aluminum accents on the dashboard and door panels.
